With dramatic skies, a golden sunset and frothy seas; Sligo Bay made for a stunning backdrop while a touch of the ‘wild’ of ‘The Wild Atlantic Way’ was making itself felt along the shore.
David was greeted by an amazing view across Sligo Bay as he pulled into Sinead’s home on the morning of 22nd of December 2016. A wonderful start to a day that just got better and better. A morning of fun and laughter was well underway with Sinead’s bridesmaids in their dresses of deep grape detailed with silver beading and the softest of dove grey feather stoles and matching muffs rather than bouquets. Sinead carried a colourful heritage bouquet of beautiful brooches to accessorise her classical duchess satin dress. Removing the need for fresh flowers so close to Christmas day was a very clever decision and even the men buttonholes were of knotted satin ribbons. Niall and Sinead were wed at St.Patrick’s Church in Strandhill. Always a delight to shoot a wedding in St.Patrick’s was extra special as the Christmas decorations looked really festive without over powering the beauty of the modern altar.

Wedding Photos @ Strandhill Beach and The Radisson Blu Sligo
A few shots on the golf links behind the church with Knocknarea in the background made for real geographical context before Sinead, Niall and their wedding party braved a blustery beach at Strandhill. With dramatic skies, a golden sunset and frothy seas; Sligo Bay made for a stunning backdrop while a touch of the ‘wild’ of ‘The Wild Atlantic Way’ was making itself felt along the shore. The warm welcome at The Radisson Blu Sligo is especially wonderful during the festive season as couples arrive into the sight of all their guests gathered around a magnificent Christmas tree in the hotel reception. There was time for a mini photo-shoot with Sinead and Niall in the Sólás Spa. Lots of sensual textures, curved surfaces and romantic candlelight make for a delightful contrast to exterior wedding photography. Then sleigh bells rang and Santa arrived to the huge excitement of all the children. No better way to keep the younger members entertained before dinner. Christmas adds an extra magical ingredient to a wedding that the camera loves. Fairy lights and Christmas decorations pump up the sparkle!
